What if, for one moment, all humanity could be united in a shared experience of peaceful gathering? What if, for one moment, we all stop and reflect on what we have in common, rather than what divides us?
On December 21st 2012, the solstice synchronizes exactly with the end of a 5,125-year cycle in the Mayan calendar. The goal of the 'moment of peace' is to use this unique moment in time to create a global experience of unity.
The Universal Declaration of Peace.
The moment of peace begins with the 'Universal Declaration of Peace', a multi-cultural statement that incorporates affirmations of peace from all the world's great spiritual traditions and cultures. The Declaration will then lead into a simple moment of silence, a universal moment of reflection that anyone and everyone can participate in.

ANNOUNCING THE ‘FEATHERED SERPENT PROJECT’
Peace 2012 is happy to announce our partnership with the Mexican media group, Planeta 2013. Peace 2012, Planeta 2013 and various associated groups dedicated to the preservation of ancestral knowledge, are calling for planetary convergence on sacred sites during eight significant dates during the year 2012 leading up to December 21st. This project is called “Serpiente Emplumada” or the “Feathered Serpent” in honor of the ancient Mesoamerican deity Quetzalcoatl, who was associated with the planet Venus and was lauded as the bringer of culture and civilization.
Among other events, Serpiente Emplumada will be hosting the ‘First Congress of Archeoastronomy and Mayan calendarics’ from the 18th-20th March in the Yucatan. They will also be hosting and promoting traditional ceremonies at pyramids and sacred sites throughout Mexico. The idea behind the Serpiente Emplumada project is to highlight the most significant dates in 2012 and to create appropriate ceremonies that honor these important times.
Serpiente Emplumadaare are calling for a worldwide pulsing of hearts in a planetary unified meditation in order to generate a critical mass and awaken a new Earth and a new humanity. With this intention, they are helping to organize different academic and cultural forums on archeoastronomy and ancient Mesoamerican calendar systems. Below are a list of the eight dates chosen to hold ceremonies and events in preparation for Winter Solstice 2012.
These dates are all of astronomical importance and therefore relate to specific astronomical alignments happening in 2012, such as equinoxes, solstices, Solar eclipses and the very important Venus transit- when Venus will be visible crossing the face of the Sun. People are invited to create their own events, especially ceremonial meditation and prayer events, in order to take full advantage of the transformative potential these dates hold for all of us. If we have an open mind and an open ear, the possibilities are endless. The Maya never said that 2012 was the end of the world, it is simply the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one, a re-birth. By gathering together and doing ceremony in this way, we have the opportunity to enter this new time consciously.

March 20th – Spring Equinox (Northern Hemisphere)
May 20st - Total Solar Eclipse
June 5-6th- Venus Transit
June 21th – Summer Solstice (Northern Hemisphere)
September 22nd - Autumn Equinox (Northern Hemisphere)
November 13th - Total Solar Eclipse
November 19th - Pleiades alignment
December 21st – Winter Solstice (Northern Hemisphere)

Teotihuacán 2012
A SACRED CELEBRATION AT THE BIRTHPLACE OF QUETZALCOATL
Teotihuacán, whose name translates as 'birthplace of the gods', is one of the most important archaeological sites in Mexico. Its origins are still unknown, but at its zenith (around 500AD), it was the largest city in the Americas and its influence spread as wide as Veracruz and the Maya lands. Approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) northeast of Mexico City, the city's broad central avenue, the 'Avenue of the Dead', is flanked by impressive ceremonial architecture, including the immense Pyramid of the Sun (the second largest in Mexico) and the Pyramid of the Moon. Like many of the ancient sites of Mexico, Teotihuacán was built as a model representation of the Universe itself. It was also famous for being one of the origin places of the legendary Quetzalcoatl.
